Australia’s Premier Mining Forum
This year marked the 29th edition of the Diggers & Dealers mining forum. The event attracts some of the industry’s leading figures and most prominent thought leaders year in year out, making it a crucial date in any Australian mining professional’s calendar. This year the three-day forum was opened by The Hon Mark McGowan Premier; Minister for Public Sector Management; State Development, Jobs and Trade; Federal State-Relations. Premier McGowan kicked things off on the morning of the 12th of October with a discussion on his government’s response to the pandemic and his views on the future of the WA mining industry.
One of the reasons for the enduring success of the event is the sheer diversity of delegates. Visitors include miners, explorers, brokers, bankers, investors, financiers and mining service industry providers (like us) from around the world. With a 50-strong media contingent there to report on the myriad of attractions and c160 exhibitors, the forum is exceedingly well reported to the wider industry offering huge visibility to those that take part.
This year, we were represented at the forum by Lorraine Kean, Emma McGregor and our new West Coast Director of Mining, John Mills. The team were treated to a series of stellar activities over the three days with mine site visits, networking events and a gala dinner on the final night. Incidentally, the evening played host to the awarding of Digger of the Year to Hancock Prospecting Chairman, and Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart.
