About the Role & Client
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Allied Health Professional to join the Acute Care Team (Mental Health) in South Tasmania. This position involves delivering hospital-level care in community settings as part of a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team. The service operates seven days a week from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, ensuring responsive and person-centered care. You’ll provide specialized, trauma-informed support to adults in crisis, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to deliver holistic treatment plans.

- Social Workers
- Occupational Therapists
- Other suitably qualified and registered Allied Health Practitioners
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assertive, community-based mental health care, including assessments, risk management, and individualized therapeutic interventions.
- Engage actively with patients, families, and carers, using recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices.
- Collaborate with team members to facilitate safe discharge and continuity of care, coordinating with general practitioners and community service providers.
- Deliver evidence-based therapies and interventions directly in the consumer’s home or community facilities.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives, clinical documentation, and professional development activities.
Skills & Requirements
- Qualifications: Approved allied health degree and relevant registration with a National Board, or full membership/eligibility with a professional association for self-regulated professions.
- Experience: Minimum of two years post-graduate experience in a clinical mental health setting, with demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions.
- Essential Checks: Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration and other pre-employment checks.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Desirable
- Established relationships with local service providers to enhance community mental health support.
