About the Role & Service
Join a dedicated community mental health and alcohol and drug service that provides free and confidential support to individuals over 14 years old experiencing alcohol and drug-related challenges. This multidisciplinary team, comprising nurses, doctors, social workers, and Aboriginal Mental Health Workers, delivers high-quality clinical and preventative services across the Kimberley region.
As a Community Mental Health Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering assessment, counselling, and referrals while working alongside community members and other health professionals to reduce the harm associated with alcohol and drug use.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health and alcohol and drug assessments.
- Provide therapeutic counselling and support to individuals and families.
- Develop and implement client-centred care plans.
- Deliver education, intervention, and harm reduction strategies.
- Support crisis intervention and risk management planning.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders.
- Assist in community outreach and prevention initiatives.
Skills & Requirements
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.
- Experience in community mental health and/or alcohol and drug services.
- Strong clinical assessment and case management skills.
- Understanding of cultural competence when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote/rural setting.
- Current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check & Vaccinations (or willingness to obtain).
