Counsellor – Family and Community Counselling Service

Salary: $85,000 – $91,000 (SCHADS Level 4) + Super, 17.5% leave loading, and salary packaging options

About the Service:

The Family and Community Counselling Service provides counselling to individuals of various age groups, couples, children and families that focus on family and relationship issues. The position will work closely with the Family and Community Counselling Services Team and other client services programs within the organisation. Travel across the region is an expectation of this role, with the office based in Townsville.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counselling to families/children/individuals using approaches that are flexible and appropriate to the program requirements in line with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct assessments of clients and develop therapeutic goals, provide consistent, evidenced based, best practice models of counselling to meet the therapy goals.
  • Manage client load in accordance with targets specified in funding and service agreements.
  • Actively participate in line management meetings and professional supervision. v Prepare and maintain statistical data and provide reports to line manager as appropriate.
  • Participate in program and service planning, review, monitoring and evaluation activities, to ensure efficient, effective and appropriate service provision.
  • Proficient in computer and confident to provide videoconference sessions

Skills & Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences, with relevant professional association membership.
  • Experience: Understanding of trauma and attachment, with skills in engaging children in therapeutic settings.
  • Cultural Competency: Ability to work sensitively with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD communities.
  • Compliance: Current driver’s license, Working with Children Blue Card, and Disability Worker Screening.
