The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Leading Hand to take charge of road construction and maintenance projects across the Gold Coast. This role is perfect for someone with demonstrated experience in Tier 1 roadworks who is ready to step up, build their own team, and drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of operators and labourers on road construction and maintenance projects.
  • Oversee daily site activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Work closely with project managers and site engineers to coordinate resources and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Train and mentor team members to develop their skills and capabilities.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Identify and resolve on-site challenges efficiently.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in road construction and maintenance within a Tier 2 contracting environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Hands-on experience in operating plant machinery and using civil construction techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s licence and relevant construction tickets.
