Join a renowned not-for-profit organization delivering impactful services across North Queensland. This role leads a Community Counselling Service, ensuring high-quality service delivery while fostering collaboration and innovation. You’ll oversee program development, service reporting, and staff management, creating meaningful impacts for individuals, families, and communities. Direct reports up to 9.

This position is responsible for service direction, development and delivery and Employee Assistance Program Contracts procurement and management; building the organisations’ contract and sub-contract profile. This position is required to participate in reporting to the Department of Social Services, Attorney General’s Department and our External contractors. Key Stakeholders for this program include the Department of Social Services, the Department of Attorney General, EAP contractors, and the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.

About the Service
The Family and Community Counselling Service provides essential support to individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges. With outreach services extending to regional areas, this program emphasizes safety, stability, and resilience to empower positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development:
- Oversee daily operations and ensure alignment with organizational and funding requirements.
- Develop and evaluate programs to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
Team Leadership & Support:
- Guide and mentor a team across Townsville, Mount Isa, and remote locations.
- Promote collaboration and a values-based culture.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Liaise with internal teams, funding bodies, and community stakeholders to strengthen partnerships.
- Advocate for innovative and best-practice approaches.
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive service evaluations, reporting, and outcome measurement processes.
- Lead initiatives to optimize client experiences and program efficiency.
Skills & Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Psychology, or Behavioural Sciences.
- 5+ years’ experience managing social or community services and the capacity to act as an accredited Family and Relationship Counsellor under the Family Law Act (1975).
- Must have a minimum of 3 years counselling experience.
- Expertise in governance, compliance, and relevant legislation (e.g., Family Law Act).
- Proven leadership in multidisciplinary teams across geographically diverse regions.
- Current open driver’s license, Working with Children Blue Card, and Disability Services Clearance.
Desirable:
- Experience in not-for-profit or faith-based sectors.
