Position: Manager – Community Development
Location: Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale
Pay Rate: $88.56 per hour
Start: Contract 03/02/2025-02/05/2025
Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Manager of Community Development to work within Local Government! The role will involve managing the planning and delivery of community initiatives, including youth, events, sports, and recreation programs. You’ll lead the Community Activation Team, meet strategic goals, and build community capacity for a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of community development, youth, sport, and recreational programs.
- Oversee community funding and grant programs.
- Plan and deliver community events, public art, and cultural initiatives.
- Use data to identify community needs and address service gaps.
- Lead staff supervision, recruitment, and professional development.
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans in line with Council’s objectives.
- Ensure effective financial management and compliance with policies and regulations.
Essential Criteria:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead teams in dynamic environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of governance, financial management, and risk mitigation.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, and community engagement skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field.
- C Class driver’s license.
- Local government experience (highly desirable).
