About the Role & Client
We are seeking an experienced leader for a 12-month role as Manager of a Suicide Prevention Counselling and Phone Service. This position has opened due to the current manager’s 12-month secondment to a new project. You’ll guide the team through a period of growth, ensuring high clinical standards and supporting the professional development of 10 counsellors and 10 phone support workers, with 3 direct reports. The role requires a resilient leader with strong change management skills, capable of sustaining and enhancing established practices in a dynamic, virtual team environment.

The service is a leading national postvention program dedicated to supporting individuals and communities impacted by suicide. This vital service provides accessible, high-quality phone and in-person support, with a focus on clinical governance and a client-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
- Uphold clinical best practices and regulatory compliance, ensuring safe and effective support for all clients.
Practice Development
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and develop frameworks to expand and refine counselling practices.
Team Leadership & Support
- Provide mentorship to a multidisciplinary team, with direct management of three senior staff members. Ensure effective team performance, recruitment, and development.
Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations, optimize workflow, and maintain high service delivery standards. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and funding requirements.
Skills & Requirements
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in health, community, or social services, ideally with virtual team management expertise.
- Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and expertise in managing change.
- Commitment to clinical excellence with a background in clinical governance.
