About the Role & Service
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit (IPWU) within a dedicated Alcohol & Drug Service. Based in Hobart, Tasmania, this unit delivers specialist care for individuals undergoing withdrawal from alcohol and other substances in a safe and supportive clinical environment.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-based treatment, clinical assessments, and case management, supporting individuals with complex needs, including co-occurring mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive withdrawal care, including assessments, treatment planning, and risk management.
  • Monitor and manage withdrawal symptoms using evidence-based protocols.
  • Support clients through crisis intervention and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff.
  • Educate patients, families, and carers on substance withdrawal and recovery pathways.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality assurance programs.

Skills & Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (AHPRA) with experience in Mental Health & Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) nursing.
  • Knowledge of withdrawal management, harm minimisation & crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning & case management skills.
  • Experience working in an inpatient, community or withdrawal unit setting.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and recovery-focused care models.
  • National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check & Vaccinations (or willingness to obtain).
