Job Title: Waste Services Manager

Work within local government overseeing Waste and Water Services, managing three landfill sites, ‘Containers for change’ operation, and the Liquid Waste Facility.

About the role and client:

These facilities will be spread across Marble Bar, Nullagine, and Newman. You will be responsible for strategic development, project management, providing expert advice while also ensuring maintenance, planning and asset management is applied.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Executing Annual Capital Works Programs & Managing Capital and Operating budgets
  • Planning and scheduling works for cost efficiency
  • Directly supervising Waste and Liquid Waste Services teams
  • Preparing and presenting reports to Council
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and reporting requirements
  • Maintaining and reporting business unit plans.
  • Strategically planning for long-term goals and financial sustainability.
  • Prioritising Work Health and Safety.
  • Applying legislation and Council policies with guidance & Upholding Code of Conduct and Shire Values
  • Delivering Waste and Liquid Waste cost – effectively while managing expenditure within budget
  • Optimising water resources & Maintaining infrastructure efficiently

Skills & Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant fields
  • Experience in operational management
  • Current Australian valid driver’s license
  • Research skills in water, waste, and recycling
  • Ability to interpret legislation
  • Planning and research experience and capabilities
  • Understanding of evolving technologies in Waste and Liquid Waste Management
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments in the industry
